The Dandelion WarThe Dandelion War, an indie/experimental/ maybe jam band from the San Fran area, is my first band of the month. Why a month you may ask? Simple because they rock. For the past week or so I've been listening to their songs non stop. If you are chillin' at home maybe with the girl in bed, great music to have on. First off, their music flows nicely with a strong instrumental presence of guitar and piano that blends excellent with a really great vocalist (you may disagree with me but for some reason his voice reminds me of Chris Martin from Coldplay). Out of all the bands I've written about (even though it may be a few) I think their music and this band would be the most enjoyable to see live. Especially in a small bar with a few pints and your mates.
While yet to be signed, they are undoubtedly an up and coming band in the bay area. Constantly having upcoming shows, if you live there check them out. Their myspace profile is here. My favorite song, Wonders, is not on their profile but I posted it below. Listen to it and enjoy.

Yeah you might have the same reaction when you listen to the song if you don't like catchy-emo-indie music like I do. I think it's a good song.

Band of the week: The Audition

According to Last.fm. the Audition are "a dance-rock-pop-punk band from Chicago, IL. Like their contemporaries in bands like Fall Out Boy, Alkaline Trio, and Spitalfield, theAUDITION sings songs full of melody and catchy choruses that evoke dancing and singing along from even the most jaded of listeners."
Well I guess I'm really late on this one. I bet none of you have heard of the Audition before. But that description above is exactly how I would describe the band. Their debut album, 'Controversy Loves Company' was pretty good. It was good enough for me to go out and buy it at Best Buy. However, it is really an immature album with catchy emo songs.
'Champion' is their follow up sophomore album, with this 16th century Jude Law looking dude on the cover. Typically sophomore albums (specifically emo cds) tend to be a make or break type cd. Looking at the track record from other emo bands such as, Fall Out Boy, and Hawthorne Heights, there's a good possibility this cd might not be so good. But I listened to three songs from the new cd on their myspace, I must say I was impressed. Catchy none the less but more mature and pretty good songs. Check them out:

This song is sick (thanks KP for keepin it fresh like always). I can relate to the lyrics plus Kanye West drops some nice lines. Enjoy.
